Paul McGrath is the principal lawyer with McGrath & Co. Lawyers after joining the firm in 1987, and after leaving for a period to practice in Sydney city, returned to the firm in 1992. He was born in Burnie and has lived in the area for most of his life, after being schooled at Burnie’s Marist Regional College. He has completed a combined degree in Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Tasmania.

Paul was admitted as a practitioner in the Tasmanian Supreme Court and of the NSW Supreme Court in 1987, and is listed on the High Court of Australia’s Roll of Practitioners.

As well as being a former company secretary for an international corporation, Paul attained the positions of a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association of Tasmania and a member of the Family Law Division of the Law Council of Australia.

Paul’s primary role with the firm, as the Principal practitioner, involves the supervision of all files and processes within the firm, and using his significant experience and judgment in ensuring the best, and most effective, outcomes for our clients.

Outside of work Paul has a passion for the Agricultural Sector and Catholic Education System and has previously been involved with the Burnie Show Society and the Marist Catholic College Board.

When not in the office you’ll find Paul out on the water enjoying time with friends and family.
